Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom

Worst pizza I've ever had in my entire life... It tasted like chemicals and was soggy ... Not cooked at all... So disappointed

My husband and I just left Smokin' Oak. Before I review the pizza, I have to say that I found a hair in my 3rd slice. I picked the slice up and a hair was IN the cheese of the pizza. I pulled it out of the cheese. My husband was sitting directly across from me and saw this as it happened. I didn't want to draw attention so I walked up to the counter and told one of the employees that I found a hair. He sent an individual over. That person, owner, manager? never introduced himself, he started by "Where is it"? When I showed him he said that his wife and someone else are blonde, basically saying that it wasn't them. He asked me what I wanted him to do...then, knowing that there are workers there with dark hair, I said "I don't know, just thought you should know" He continued on that it is MY hair as if I hang my head over the pizza as I'm eating or something, which I absolutely do not do. He never apologized, he did offer to make another pizza, no, I'm good and offered dessert or a drink, no thanks. How about accountability and apologies? Not this guy. I wasn't looking for a handout, I was informing him that his non-glove wearing pizza makers left a hair IN, not on, my pizza. Not on, IN. So that was a one and done visit. Now, the pizza, the Classic, the sauce is fresh tasting, sparse, the ingredients seem fresh, the crust isn't crispy and there is ZERO oak fired flavor. ZERO. We paid full price for our meal, that wasn't the point, the point is that there was a HAIR cooked into my pizza and a owner or manager blaming me, the person paying him nearly $50.00 tonight. You're welcome.

Unfortunately, this was a total regret. The wait was insane, and the entire place felt extremely disorganized. After waiting that long, we were expecting the pizza to at least be worth it, but it was dry, tasteless, and extremely overpriced for what you actually get. What made the experience even worse was the customer service. The owner was extremely rude when dealing with situations involving customers, which was honestly disappointing, especially for a brand-new business. It’s truly sad because I know the neighborhood was excited to finally have a wood-fired pizza place nearby. But between the long wait, disorganization, overpriced and tasteless pizza, and poor customer service, this place is a big no for me. I would never bring my family back here to experience this kind of discomfort again. For a new business, I really hope they make some serious improvements because, based on our experience, I don’t see it lasting very long.

For a new restaurant, this place does not feel very welcoming. The online ordering instructions are unclear and confusing, which resulted in us receiving an order that was not what we intended. When we calmly brought the issue to the owner’s attention, he laughed in our faces and responded as though we were trying to take money from him. That made no sense and felt extremely disrespectful. The pizzas were also dry and average overall. Mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, especially with a new business, but customers should be treated professionally when they raise a legitimate concern. I hope the owner and staff improve both the ordering process and their approach to customer service. If other customers are made to feel this way, it will be difficult for this place to succeed.

Pizza’s were good, quality ingredients.

If you have been following me for a while now you know I love me some pizza 🍕. It’s just the best comfort food I know. This place is so good! The pizza is delicious and the crust is thin so you eat but you don’t feel bloated or gross afterwards. They have the best beers!! You can choose a variety of different flavors and types. We are still talking about what other flavors we want to try when we go back and what other specialty pizzas 🍕 we can not miss. This time around we had the Italian stallion and the buffalo chicken, delicious!! Great customer service (thank you Cory), reasonable prices, family friendly, sporty and super clean too. Pizza was amazing! Hard to find good pie in FL, but this place got it down!!

Not worth the wait. Came around 5pm on Friday. Was told the wait was 20 minutes to fire up the pizza. 37 minutes later the pizzas came out. When this arrived at the table it was disappointing. Mostly crust. Essentially what was provided of toppings was flavorful but didn’t make up for the fact that I felt like I ordered a bread basket. I will say the woman with the long blonde ponytail was kind with us ordering.
