Tailwind Customer Cases
4.2 → 4.7 on Google. Four months. Two more jobs every week
How Tom B.'s 4-truck plumbing company in Texas turned a half-star rating climb into measurable revenue — by doing one thing well: asking every customer for a review.
The starting point
Tom's plumbing company had been around 11 years. Strong word-of-mouth, repeat customers, four trucks running daily. Their Google rating was 4.2 — not bad, but the bigger HVAC/plumbing chains in his metro were pulling 4.6 to 4.8 and dominating local-pack search.
Tom knew he needed reviews but couldn't get the team to ask consistently. The dispatcher tried; the techs forgot in the moment. Customers were happy, just not vocal.

I'd ask a customer how things went and they'd say 'great, you guys are awesome.' Then they'd never write the review. Multiply that by ten jobs a day, four trucks. We were leaving thousands of reviews on the table.
What they changed
- Week 1
Connected Google, Yelp, Angi, Thumbtack, Facebook, BBB. Imported existing review history.
- Week 2
Integrated Tailwind with their dispatch software (ServiceTitan). When a job was marked complete, Tailwind auto-sent an SMS to the customer with a one-tap Google review link. Sent only on first jobs (not repeats), only Mon–Fri.
- Week 3
Configured Orders Routing — any review under 3 stars routed to Tom's phone by SMS within 60 seconds.
- Week 4–8
Tom replied personally to every review under 4 stars; auto-replies handled 5-stars. Tailwind drafted everything; Tom edited where needed.
- Month 2–4
Review velocity went from ~3 a week to ~22 a week. The new positives drowned out the long-tail negatives. The few legitimate negatives got fast, thoughtful replies — which prospects actually read.

What surprised them

The SMS at job-end was the whole game. We tried email. We tried QR codes on the truck. Nothing worked. SMS within 5 minutes of job completion — review within the hour. That's it.
