The starting point

Tom's plumbing company had been around 11 years. Strong word-of-mouth, repeat customers, four trucks running daily. Their Google rating was 4.2 — not bad, but the bigger HVAC/plumbing chains in his metro were pulling 4.6 to 4.8 and dominating local-pack search.
