Why employer reviews matter

Job seekers research employers the same way customers research businesses. A pattern of unanswered negative reviews on Glassdoor or Indeed tells top candidates to look elsewhere — and drives up your cost per hire. Thoughtful responses show you listen, which attracts the people you want.

The rules are a little different from customer reviews

• Never try to identify the reviewer or hint that you know who it is. It’s often anonymous by design, and “outing” them is a serious trust breach.

2. Acknowledge the theme without confirming specifics (“we hear the concern about workload”).
3. Share what you’re doing about it, if anything real is underway.
4. Invite a direct conversation through HR or an open-door channel.

“Thank you for sharing this. We take feedback about [theme] seriously and have been working on [specific improvement]. If you’re open to it, we’d welcome a direct conversation with our team at [channel] — your input helps us get better.”
